Former NBA player Drew Gooden sees a bright future for Victor Wembanyama, the top pick of this year’s NBA Draft by the San Antonio Spurs.

In a recent interview on Scoop B Selects with Brandon “Scoop B” Robinson, Gooden drew parallels between Wembanyama and basketball legend Tim Duncan, suggesting that the young French talent could follow in Duncan’s footsteps both on and off the court.

Gooden praised the Spurs’ system, emphasizing that under the guidance of Coach Gregg Popovich, Wembanyama has the potential to blossom into an exceptional player.

“San Antonio is the perfect for him because you know Popovich and we’re really seeing the reincarnation of Tim Duncan all over again with the same story,” Gooden said.

“I’m anticipating Victor Wembanyama under that system becoming a helluva pro, trying to become a Hall of Famer and I think in the next couple of years ultimately could be the next NBA Defensive Player of the Year,” he added.
