Spain’s full 23-player Women’s Euro 2022 squad

Women’s Super League star Ona Batlle and Manchester City-bound duo Leila Ouahabi and Laia Aleixandri have made Spain’s final squad for the 2022 European Championship.

Spain coach Jorge Vilda also initially made the surprising decision to include the uncapped Salma Paralluelo, 18, who has shone for Villarreal. Paralluelo is also a sprinter who has starred at youth level. She won two gold medals at the 2019 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival.

However, she had to pull out at the last minute after an injury.

Teresa Abelleira has been called up in her place.

Vilda has left out Amaiur Sarriegi, who has scored more than a goal a game to date for Spain since making her debut in 2021. She has hit 12 goals in 11 matches for the senior side.

There was also no place for Nerea Eizagirre, Claudia Zornoza or Ainhoa Vicente. That trio and Sarriegi were part of the 28-person provisional squad who were initially called up.

Jennifer Hermoso, who finished second in Ballon d’Or voting last year, will miss the tournament with a knee issue.

Barcelona are the most heavily represented club, with nine players, while there are six from Real Madrid.
