Please note that players on DraftKings and FanDuel have multi-position eligibility and may not always match their position between each other. In this article, we will be breaking down some of our favorite plays on the slate at their positions. Remember to always keep your eye on the news as the day progresses, as NBA news changes the slate frequently.
Guards
Dejounte Murray ($9,700 DK, $10,400 FD)
Team Total | Usage Rate | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Opponent Defensive Net Rating Rank | Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to Position |
104.25 | 25.7% | 1.36 | 19th | 45.14 |
Murray was smoking hot with four straight games with over 47 fantasy points then had to miss some time due to Covid protocols. While Murray could have slowed down in his return to the Spurs lineup in his return that has not been the case as Murray is hotter than ever since his return. In those three games, Murray is averaging 22.7 points, 7.7 rebounds, 11 assists, and 2.7 steals. Murray has at least 50 fantasy points in each of those games and is in a great position to make it four straight games with that level of production tonight.
Anfernee Simons ($6,400 DK, $7,300 FD)
Team Total | Usage Rate | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Opponent Defensive Net Rating Rank | Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to Position |
108.75 | 22.4% | 0.83 | 10th | 47.69 |
Simons salary is on the rise but it is not at the point where I think you shouldn’t roster him with Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum still out. This season when not sharing the court with both of those players Simons has a usage rate of 29.2% and is averaging 0.96 fantasy points per minute. If you also take Norman Powell off the court as he will be out tonight as well Simons has a usage rate of 33.5% and is averaging 0.97 fantasy points per minute. If we look at just Simons’ last for games with Lillard and McCollum out we will also see that he is putting up big numbers with averages of 29 points, 2.5 rebounds, 6.8 assists, 1.1 steals+blocks, and 42.38 fantasy points.
Seth Curry ($6,600 DK, $6,700 FD)
Team Total | Usage Rate | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Opponent Defensive Net Rating Rank | Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to Position |
118.25 | 19.1% | 0.78 | 30th | 50.84 |
Anytime the 76ers are missing Tyrese Maxey which is the case tonight I am going to be on Curry as he has played extremely well in games that Maxey has missed this season. In the six games that Maxey has missed that Curry has played Curry is averaging 19.8 points, five rebounds, 6.2 assists, and 34.75 fantasy points. He has especially played well as of late with Maxey out with back-to-back games with at least 40 fantasy points. The Rockets despite Curry having a bad game against them a week ago in a game that Maxey also missed are also a fantastic match-up for Curry. This season the Rockets rank dead last in team defensive net rating and fantasy points allowed per game to guards.
Forwards
RJ Barrett ($6,400 DK, $5,900 FD)
Team Total | Usage Rate | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Opponent Defensive Net Rating Rank | Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to Position |
110.25 | 24.7% | 0.84 | 18th | 39.28 |
I am a huge Barrett fan and am glad to see that he is playing well right now. Barrett has scored in double-figures in six straight games for the Knicks after failing to hit that mark in two straight games. In those six games, Barrett is averaging 20.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, three assists, a steal, and 33.33 fantasy points. Barrett is not just playing solid basketball right now but he could also be in line for a boost depending on how the Knicks’ injuries play out as both Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier are questionable to play tonight. This season with those two guys and Derrick Rose who is also out off the court Barrett has seen an increase in usage to 26.8%.
Lonnie Walker IV ($4,200 DK, $4,400 FD)
Team Total | Usage Rate | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Opponent Defensive Net Rating Rank | Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to Position |
104.25 | 23.2% | 0.89 | 19th | 40.40 |
We are always team Walker over at FantasyCruncher but especially today as he looks like a fantastic play after his last game. Walker started for the Spurs yesterday against the Nets and had a big performance. In his 33 minutes, Walker went for 25 points, three rebounds, four assists, a steal, and a block on his way to 39.6 fantasy points. Tonight we should see Walker start and play similar minutes once again as the Spurs will be without Derrick White, Keldon Johnson, and Devin Vassell and while Walker might not put up 40 fantasy points again he should easily produce in the 25 to 30 fantasy point range which would pay off his salary.
Power Foward/Centers
Giannis Antetokounmpo ($12,000 DK, $11,500 FD)
Team Total | Usage Rate | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Opponent Defensive Net Rating Rank | Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to Position |
118.25 | 34.9% | 1.70 | 28th | 48.17 |
I am always a little wary of rostering a player as expensive as Antetokounmpo is especially on a slate filled with studs like this one is. With that being said I have a ton of exposure to Antetokounmpo right now as he is playing some elite basketball (what else is new) and is in a great match-up against the Hornets. Antetokounmpo has at least 60 fantasy points in three of his last five games with two of those games going for over 67 fantasy points. The Hornets have the third-worst team defensive net rating and have allowed the most fantasy points per game to power forwards/centers this season. Antetokounmpo has also played well against the Hornets this season. In his two games against the Hornets which includes the last game, Antetokounmpo played as they are in the second game of a home and home set Antetokounmpo is averaging 41.5 points, 12 rebounds, six assists, a steal, a block, and 66.4 fantasy points.
Hassan Whiteside ($5,200 DK, $5,300 FD)
Team Total | Usage Rate | Fantasy Points Per Minute | Opponent Defensive Net Rating Rank | Fantasy Points Allowed Per Game to Position |
117.25 | 19.3% | 1.25 | 22nd | 50.39 |
With Rudy Gobert out I am high on Whiteside even though he has not done much in his past two starts with Gobert out. In those two games, Whiteside is averaging 7.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, a block, and just 19.25 fantasy points. The reason why I am still high on Whiteside despite those two games is due to the match-up against the Pistons. The Pistons are a better match-up for Whiteside due to the fact that they don’t rebound the ball well with the second-lowest team rebounding rate this season. The Pistons also rank in the bottom ten in blocks allowed per game and points allowed per game in the paint.
