Timberwolves reportedly unwilling to include Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns in Ben Simmons package

Ben Simmons remains away from the Philadelphia 76ers as he awaits to find out where he will continue his NBA career. The possibility of returning to his current team is highly unlikely, however the Sixers are still trying to trade him for a massive haul of elite talent.

There are several reports suggesting that the Sixers’ front office is playing the waiting game, hoping to receive back a player like the Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard or Bradley Beal of the Washington Wizards.

At some point during the season, among the teams interested in acquiring Simmons were the Minnesota Timberwolves, who reportedly offered a generous package to Philadelphia; however, they excluded Karl-Anthony Towns and Anthony Edwards from those deals.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst (via hoopshype), who made an appearance on “The Scoop” with Darren “Doogie” Wolfson, T-Wolves considered both KAT and ‘Ant-man’ off-limits in these discussions.

“From what I understand, the Wolves have pretty much offered every asset package they could possibly offer for Ben Simmons, except for Anthony Edwards and Karl Towns.”

The Timberwolves are having one of the best seasons since 2017 where Jimmy Butler and Karl-Anthony Towns led the team to the postseason. Now, with the exciting play of Towns and their improved defense, Minnesota is at 500. (20-20) ranked 8th in the tough Western Conference.

As we’re heading to the trade deadline, Simmons could be part of a blockbuster trade with several teams interested in adding an All-Star talent. It remains to be seen if the Sixers’ FO will elect to trade Simmons after a more reasonable offer, despite Daryl Morey’s willingness to keep the All-Star point-forward around for a bigger deal.
